Baars acquired the bottle from a private source in Southeast Asia between 1966 and 1970 while he was working on geophysical fieldwork for the Royal Dutch Shell Company. It was shipped to Holland in 1970 with the rest of his collection when his contract with the Brunei Shell Company ended.
