The Freer and Sackler Galleries are open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day except December 25.

Buses

Groups arriving by bus should note that the United States Park Police (202.426.6841) discourages bus parking on the Mall. Recommended bus parking areas.

The Freer and Sackler do not have on-site eateries; however, there are places to eat close by and in other Smithsonian museums. The nearest dining option is located in the Smithsonian Castle.

Bag lunches

Because all bags need to be checked by security, please leave personal items and lunches on the bus if possible. If you must bring lunches inside, please place them in clear plastic bags so they can easily pass inspection. Arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes before your tour to allow time for the security check.

Freer Gallery Closure

From January 2015 through 2016, the collections storage areas of the Freer Gallery of Art will be unavailable for research or visits due to the replacement of the building’s heating, humidification, and ventilation systems. Throughout 2016 the Freer’s galleries and Meyer Auditorium will be closed to visitors. Concerts, films, and other public programs will be held at sites around the Smithsonian.

The Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Library, and Archives will remain open during this period.
