Friends of the Freer|Sackler Membership Levels

Qualifying contributions include membership for one calendar year and entitle two people to participate in all Friends events.

Patron Membership Levels and Benefits


PATRONS' CIRCLE ($1,500–$2,999)

The value of benefits is $325; the remainder is tax-deductible.

  • Subscription to the Friends monthly e-newsletter
  • One exhibition catalogue (selected by the museums)
  • 20 percent discount in the Sackler museum shop
  • 25 percent discount on a subscription to Orientations magazine
  • Priority reserved seating (if available) at concerts and films (R)
  • An invitation to exhibition opening receptions for Friends (R)
  • Monthly insider opportunities, such as curator-led tours of exhibitions (R)
  • An invitation to the Annual Friends Day and Dinner ($)
  • An invitation to participate in curator-led tours of museums and collections around the United States ($)

DIRECTOR'S CIRCLE ($3,000–$4,999)

The value of benefits is $555; the remainder is tax-deductible.
Enjoy the privileges of the Patrons' Circle, plus:

  • An invitation to participate in curator-led international tours ($)
  • An invitation to New Acquisition Show and Tell, featuring the museums’ recently acquired objects (R)
  • An invitation to the Friends weekend in New York City during Asia Week (R)

FOUNDERS' CIRCLE ($5,000–$9,999)

The value of benefits is $625; the remainder is tax-deductible.
Enjoy the privileges of the Director's Circle, plus:

  • Prominent listing on donor panels displayed in both the Freer and the Sackler Galleries
  • A subscription to the scholarly journal Ars Orientalis
  • Discounted accommodations and dining at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, DC

SPONSORS' CIRCLE ($10,000–$19,999)

The value of Sponsors' Circle benefits is $725 and the remainder is tax-deductible.
Enjoy the privileges of the Founders' Circle, plus:

  • A personalized tour of the collection and cocktails for you and four guests (upon request)

LEADERSHIP CIRCLE ($20,000 AND ABOVE)

Members of the Leadership Circle provide the Galleries with crucial funding for special projects that are identified by the museums’ director. Each year, members vote to apply a portion of the Leadership Circle's annual giving to one of these projects.
The value of benefits is $1,125; the remainder is tax-deductible.
Enjoy all privileges of the Sponsors' Circle, plus:

  • An invitation to a dinner with the director and a curator of your choice
  • Recognition in all support materials for the project that is directly funded by your donation
  • An invitation to an annual dinner with members of the Board of Trustees


Associate Membership Levels and Benefits


CONTRIBUTORS’ CIRCLE ($250–$499)

The value of Contributors’ Circle benefits is $35 and the remainder is tax-deductible.
