Whatever you value most—exciting exhibitions, programs, performances, or simply time spent in quiet reflection—the Galleries provide endless ways to explore the diverse art of Asia. Only here can you visit the famous Peacock Room, discover the finest collections of ancient Chinese jades and bronzes outside China, and explore new perspectives on Asia through contemporary art, music, and film.

Directed Giving

There are so many ways that your gift can benefit the Freer|Sackler!

The Galleries offer children and families creative opportunities to enjoy and explore the arts and cultures of Asia in a welcoming environment. Our popular ImaginAsia programs serve 5,000 children and their adult companions each year with unique hands-on learning activities, exploring calligraphy, poetry, kite- and puppet-making, anime, origami, textiles, book arts, block printing, and more.

Music and Performance
The Galleries are committed to presenting the widest possible range of performing arts from Asia and the diaspora, covering the span from classical, religious, and folk music to a range of new music inspired by Asian traditions. We believe it is particularly important to present new music for Asian instruments, new works for Western instruments by Asian composers, and creative fusions that meld East and West in innovative ways.

Research and Art Conservation
The Freer and Sackler Galleries are among just a handful of museums worldwide that support and encourage the combination of conservation and scientific methods to study works of art. Recognized internationally for its high standards and scientific research since 1932, our conservation department works to safeguard the collections, train scientists and conservators, and publish research on Asian art.

Asian Film
Every year, the Freer and Sackler bring the best of Asian cinema to Washington. Each film is carefully chosen to present original, insightful, and provocative perspectives on Asia, past and present. From masterworks to fresh indie releases, our goal is to make the full scope of Asian filmmaking available to the public free of charge.

Exhibitions and Collections
Combined, the renowned collections of the Freer and Sackler Galleries create a dynamic crossroads where East meets West and old meets new. Your generous support will help us sustain the vision of our founders through the twenty-first century and beyond. Our goal is to challenge visitors to think about Asian art and culture as a dynamic process, one that is in dialogue with the past and influenced by the present. From explorations of enduring traditional forms to the forefront of new media and digital technology, your donation will support the development of groundbreaking exhibitions of the highest artistic and cultural significance.
