Turquoise Mountain

Turquoise Mountain: Artists Transforming Afghanistan

The Freer|Sackler is currently closed for renovation, updates, and gallery reinstallation. Even though we are closed, our entire collection is available digitally on Open F|S. We continue to offer a full schedule of public programs at off-site locations. Check our events schedule for the latest information. Also, the popular exhibition Turquoise Mountain: Artists Transforming Afghanistan remains on view in the International Gallery. (Enter through the Ripley Center.)

We hope you will join us for our weekend-long reopening celebration IluminAsia: A Festival of Asian Art, Food, and Cultures on October 14 and 15, 2017. We will reopen with four new special exhibitions: Divine Felines: Cats of Ancient Egypt; Encountering the Buddha: Art and Practice Across Asia; Resound: Bells of Ancient China; and Subodh Gupta: Terminal.
