You can now reserve four tickets per person to selected events at the Freer Gallery's Meyer Auditorium through Ticketmaster.
Contact Ticketmaster by phone or online beginning two Mondays before the event, or go to any of Ticketmaster's 110 walk-up ticket outlets. Pick up your reserved tickets at the Meyer Auditorium the day of the event. Reservations are valid until five minutes before an event begins, after which unclaimed tickets will be distributed to the public.
On the day of the program, tickets cannot be reserved through Ticketmaster but are distributed at the Meyer Auditorium one hour before the event begins on a first-come, first-served basis. For information, call 202.357.2700
Why a new ticketing system?
Ticket availability by phone, internet, and 110 walk-up outlets makes these events more equally accessible to all and visitors can be certain they will gain entry to an event and not be turned away at the door due to a full house.
Tickets can be reserved for all chamber music concerts, most Asian music and dance events, and selected films and lectures.
How many tickets?
Up to four tickets can be reserved per person.
What is the cost?
The Ticketmaster service charge is $2.75 per ticket, plus a $1.25 handling fee per order.
How and when to reserve tickets?
Contact Ticketmaster PhoneCharge or ticketmaster.com, or go to one of ticketmaster's 110 Washington-area walk-up ticket outlets beginning at 10:00 a.m. two Mondays before the event and until 24 hours before the program begins.
When to pick up tickets?
Reserved tickets will be available for pick up at the Meyer Auditorium one hour before the event begins, with appropriate identification (credit card used to reserve the tickets or driver's license). Reservations are valid until five minutes before the scheduled start time of the event, after which unclaimed tickets will be distributed to the public.
Can I still line up for tickets the day of the event?
All unreserved tickets will be distributed at the Meyer Auditorium one hour before the event begins on a first-come, first-served basis. Call Smithsonian Visitor Information (202.357.2700) about ticket availability on the day of the event. Unclaimed reserved tickets will be distributed five minutes before each event begins.
How quickly will events sell out?
It is difficult to predict demand for tickets, but for well-known performers or films, tickets are likely to sell out within five or ten minutes after they become available.
What if I am a member of the Friends of the Freer and Sackler Galleries?
Members may reserve a limited number of free tickets to designated public programs. Please contact the Office of Membership and Development at 202.633.0446 for details.
What about performances not held in the Meyer Auditorium?
Performances not held in the Meyer Auditorium do not require tickets, unless the performances were originally located on the Freer steps and were moved indoors due to inclement weather. In these cases, tickets will be distributed at the door.
