Some Enlightened Evening

Celebrate the opening of
Yoga: The Art of Transformation
October 17, 2013

Join Director Julian Raby for a memorable event to kick off the exhibition Yoga: The Art of Transformation at the Smithsonian’s Freer and Sackler Galleries.

Some Enlightened Evening promises to be a sumptuous affair of art, entertainment, and fine cuisine. Diplomats, philanthropists, artists, yogis, and celebrities will gather in the spectacular International Gallery for the inauguration of the world’s first exhibition on the visual history of yoga.

Yoga: The Art of Transformation traces the history of this global phenomenon. Temple sculptures, devotional icons, illustrated manuscripts, and court paintings—as well as modern photographs, books, and films—illuminate yoga’s central tenets and obscured histories.

Patrons can sponsor tables for $50,000, $25,000, and $10,000 with tantalizing benefits. Tickets are also available at $2,500 and $1,000 levels. For more information, contact Mary Fox at fsgala@si.edu. Purchase your gala table or tickets here.

Dinner leads into the after-party hosted by the Silk Road Society, the Galleries’ young patrons group. For more information on the after-party, contact Carly Pippin at PippinC@si.edu or visit the Silk Road Society homepage.
